Tennis in Umag

TENNIS - Every day in the world to play a thousand matches in tennis. Croatia has its oldest tournament, as old as the country, the Croatia Open in Umag, Istria, Croatia. In the shortest finals in the history of the ATP tournament in Umag, Austrian Dominic Thiem Joao Sousa overcame portugees winning 6: 4, 6: 1 and thus became the 26th wiiner of Konzum Croatia Open. The match lasted an hour and a minute, one minute longer than the finals in 2013, when Tommy Robredo Fabio Fognini won in 62 minutes. The tournament has had its birth in 1990. The first tournament: the first time Croatian players in the finals. Goran Prpic won his only ATP tournament, beating Goran Ivanisevic, who was not yet 19 years old. Tennis legend Fred Perry arrived in Umag. On the eve of war, ATP CEO Mark Miles and Director for Europe Pierre Darmon visited Umag. Drazen Petrovic watched live the tournament. Bruno Orešar played his last match at the ATP tournament. Winner of Poles arrive to the title from qualification - so far only qualifier winning this tournament. This year's 27th edition of the Croatia Open, which will take place from 15 until 24 of July 2016, will once again position Umag as the center of one of the most important social events in Denmark, which attracts not only the athletes, but also the political, business and show business elite.
